Description
Armand LEJEUNE (1865–). “The Back of My Garden” Inscribed on the reverse: “30 Rue du Sergent Blandan, Nancy” Oil on canvas. Signed lower right. Dated 1919.4 D_46 L_ 39 cm. Bibliography: A painter of genre scenes and portraits, he was born in Nancy in 1865. He studied under J.P. Laurens and exhibited at the Nancy Salon between 1897 and 1913, the year in which he presented three paintings: *Deux âges de la vie*, *Chez soi, temps gris*, *Le fond de mon jardin, temps gris*, and a number of drawings. In 1902, he exhibited a highly acclaimed ‘Bretonne’. At the 1911 Salon, he exhibited a painting, *Boubonnaise*. He was awarded a Third Class Medal at the Paris Salon in 1913.
