Description
GEORGES LUCIEN GUYOT (1885–1973) Walking Cynocéphale. Model designed in 1926 and cast in bronze using the lost-wax process around 1930. A black-patinated plaster sculpture depicting a walking baboon (cynocéphale), its body slightly twisted, its head turned in a three-quarter profile, the muzzle and facial features finely modelled, the coat rendered in broad, scratched strands suggesting the texture of the fur. The animal is depicted in a naturalistic pose, moving on all fours. The work rests on a rectangular plinth with a roughly suggested rocky ground surface. Signed on the plinth. H_ 34 cm.
