Description
‘The Faun’ Whistle Made from elephant ivory of the ‘Proboscidean Elephantidae spp.’ type (Elephas maximus, Loxodonta africana or Loxodonta cyclotis). A flattened, full-relief statuette forming the handle, depicting a faun wearing a crown and a belt of vine leaves over his goat’s coat, his torso bare and playing cymbals. He stands emerging from a sort of horn, which serves as the body of the whistle. This is extended by the mouthpiece of the whistle, which is non-functional.
