Set of two large santons
Large santon (scene)
Made of polychrome terracotta. Sculpted in the round. Depicts two bearded fishermen casting their net over the side of their boat. The boat rests on the waves and stands on an oval, scalloped plinth. Hand-incised signatures visible in two places; one is illegible and the other indicates the piece was made in Caltagirone.
