Description
Set of three asparagus dishes with built-in cradle Manufacture de Longchamp - The first, made of ferric earthenware (fine earthenware), is oval in shape with a scalloped rim and a built-in cradle. It is decorated with cascading, multicoloured flowers on the sides. The scalloped border is highlighted by a green line and small striations. It bears the manufacturer’s stamp ‘Longchamp Terre de fer’ on the reverse. Late 19th century L. 40.5 cm Restorations and soiling -The second, in polychrome slipware, is oval in shape with a scalloped rim, imitating broad vine leaves, with two side handles formed from the leaf stalks. A trompe-l’œil cradle of asparagus spears, integrated into the dish. Bears a manufacturer’s stamp on the reverse. Early 20th century L. 38.5 cm Restorations and small chips. An identical model was created by Creil and Montereau. -Creil and Montereau The third dish, made of polychrome iron earthenware, is oval in shape. It is decorated with a wickerwork pattern on the rim, a basket in the centre and handles made of asparagus spears, all rendered in trompe-l’œil. Bears the ‘C&M M’ mark on the reverse. 19th century L. 42.3 cm Minor chipping
