Description
Christ on the Cross Display frame made of exotic wood and glass, with fabric. Christ, the phylactery and the remains of Adam are crafted from Nevers drawn glass, whilst the cross is made of mother-of-pearl; the ensemble is set within a display frame with a red velvet-lined back, the frame’s moulding carved with a frieze of foliage. The rear of the frame is lined with blue velvet. Nevers. The figure of Christ, the scroll and the remains of Adam date from the 18th century. The rest of the composition is contemporary. H. 59 cm – W. 51.5 cm (display case) H. of Christ: 24 cm (below the base) Reassembled, with damage, losses and restoration work.
