Description
Set of two carnival masks Made from stamped sheet metal and painted in multiple colours. The first design, in the shape of a stylised moon, is decorated with two animals, two protruding ears and movable pendants. On the reverse, fabric lines the area where the wearer’s face sits. Mexico, 20th century H. 37 cm SS One pendant is missing; there are two holes at the top and a chain for hanging it. The second mask takes the form of a bearded man’s face, with lovely curls at the bottom of the beard. It features two movable earrings. Two holes at the top for hanging. On the reverse, fabric lines the area where the carnival-goer’s face would sit. Mexico, 20th century H. 39.7 cm SS Minor distortions.
