Description
A collection of small items on the theme of soldiers (1914–1918 ‘Poilu’ and 1939–1945) -Four Poilu rings, made of aluminium and copper. One model with a blank area for engraving, two Lorraine crosses, one of which has traces of red resin and the other adorned with the crown from a German button. Also included is a heart-shaped pendant bearing the inscription ‘MARTYR DE LA GUERRE 1914’. Trench crafts, 1914–1918 Also included are a Lorraine Cross-shaped pendant in gilded metal with enamel, a ‘Verdun’ pin, a brooch depicting charging soldiers (silver-plated), two ‘Glory to the Serbs // 1916’, an aluminium medal inscribed ‘TOWARDS VICTORY // CAMPAIGN 1914–1914’, ‘I OFFER THIS CHARMS TO THE VALIANT SOLDIER’ and a blank cartouche for engraving. Also included are two General de Gaulle medals, made of aluminium and bearing the inscription ‘LE LIBERATEUR’; on the reverse, the Cross of Lorraine is superimposed on the map of France. A perpetual calendar by CORONA covering the years 1914 to 1950, housed within a trompe l’œil coin bearing the effigy of ‘GENERALISSIME JOFFRE’. Various other medals are included, including one designed by René Lalique and known as ‘Les Infirmières’. 21 items in total
