Ridge tile
Glazed earthenware, with sections coated in kaolin slip.
Gentleman in a frock coat, modelled in relief.
Removable head (hat missing).
Attached to the tile with original mortar.
Damage.
Height: 44.5 cm
Notes:
The Cherbourg Museum holds a ridge tile of the same style, depicting a parish priest, with several inscriptions including ‘….. …. Jean Mouchel, who made this tile, known as ‘Le Petit Jane’’, ‘…… Made in the year 1740’.
