SAUXEMESNIL – 19TH CENTURY Anthropomorphic jug known as the ‘Marquis’. Red earthenware with a honey-coloured glaze. A caricature of an 18th-century soldier wearing a shako and sideburns. The tubular arms are set well apart from the body; the buttons and epaulettes are moulded from clay. Holds a cup in his right hand and has his left hand resting on his stomach.
