Description
DEVINCK CHOCOLAT (Paris) - Rare lithographed sheet metal circa 1895-1900. Good condition, good colours, embossed lettering and illustration, alterations, oxidation, slight deformation. 49.7 x 37.5 cm. Printed by "imp.L.Revon - Paris". Anonymous illustrator, probably NOVER (palindrome of "Revon" l'imprimerie) not mentioned. François Jules Devinck (president of the Paris Commercial Court, politician and great chess player in Paris) founded a chocolate factory in 1823, selling chocolates on rue Saint-Honoré, then rue Lafayette, which were made on rue Haudriette in Paris. The factory then moved to 70, rue Lambrechts in Courbevoie (source: shcourbevoie.fr).
