Maurice Amieux was the founder of this dynasty. The son of an innkeeper in the Alps, he began trading in food products in Rennes in 1850; he set up a sardine confectionery in Étel in 1852 and moved to Nantes in 1856, the city that was then the capital of the canning industry. Two of his sons, Émile and Jean-Maurice, founded the general partnership Amieux Frères in 1866. Sold in 1974 to Buitoni. Today, the brand no longer belongs to the world of business but to heritage.
