Justus von Liebig was a German chemist who devoted his life to agronomic research.
In 1865, the German engineer Giebert joined forces with Baron Justus von Liebig to set up Liebig's Extract of Meat Company in London. Their vision was to market the meat extract invented by the Baron a few years earlier, to develop meat concentrates as food supplements - a process studied as early as 1847, then perfected in 1860 - animal meal and finally milk preparations for infants (source: universalis.fr and Wikipedia).
