A mandarin-based aperitif created around 1910 by the Cusenier company, its name comes from its orange colour, reminiscent of the robes worn by bonzes and mandarins in ancient China. In 1977, BYRRH was acquired by the Pernod-Ricard group (source: Wikipedia).
