The Touring Club de France was founded on 26 January 1890 in Neuilly-sur-Seine, under the impetus of Paul de Vivie and a group of velocipedist friends. Their aim was to develop tourism in all its forms. After the cycle tourism of the early years, the TCF opened up to all forms of tourism, covering a wide range of activities: hiking, motoring, motorcycling, camping, mountaineering, caving, horse riding, aviation, photography, archaeology, heritage conservation, etc. The association was wound up in 1983 (source Wikipedia).
