LION NOIR/AUTO MIROR -
Two lithographed tin cans illustrated by Béatrice Mallet for "shining liquid" for car bodywork and windows.
Good condition, some minor scattered oxidation.
One 12.6 x 8 x 6 cm and the other 12 x 6 x 4.3 cm .
The Black Lion brand of shoe polish was created in the 1890s by J.Delage in Montrouge and developed by the company "l es Produits du Lion Noir" created on 16 March 1917. In 1938, Produits du Lion Noir took over the factories of Société Générale des Cirages Français (Eclipse cream polish). In 1965 it merged with the new Solitaire company, followed by Henkel in 1987, then the BP (British Petrol) oil group in 1989, then Bolton-Solitaire in 1991, and the demise of the Lion Noir in 1992.
