MOBILOIL (oils) - PEGASE, circa 1960 Single-sided enamelled plate in cut-out Good condition, a few chips around the edges and on the rear of the winged horse. approximately 95 x 75 cm. Anonymous enamelling. 1911: A subsidiary of the Vacuum Oil Company of Cape Town, South Africa, registers the trademark with the flying horse Pegasus. 1920: The meteoric rise of the automobile market prompts Vacuum to develop the trademark Pegasus Motor spirit and Mobil oil with a white Pegasus as its logo. 1931: Mobiloil is born of the merger between Socony and Vacuum Oil, which creates the Socony-Vacuum Co. Pegasus, this time in red, appeared in the United States as the emblem of the new Socony-Vacuum group and its star brand Mobiloil (source: emblèmes.blog.free.fr).
