RILLETTES FROM THE SARTHE - circa 1930 Albert Gallet Pont de Gennes - Montfort. Glassoïde" after Marcel Laurent Very good condition. 27 x 14.4 cm . Representation of a pig being pulled by a peasant woman "Don't resist! You're going to delight the customers at GALLET...". In 1897, Louis Gallet (and his son Albert), a pork butcher in Montfort-le-Rotrou, a village seven kilometres from Connerré, had the idea of delivering his rillettes by horse-drawn cart to a few local middle-class families. The product was thus marketed to a new category of people. 1968 Gallet rillettes disappeared.
