PIERROT GOURMAND: in 1892 Georges Evrard opened the confectionery "Au Pierrot Gourmand" in the Marais district of Paris.
In 1899 he registered the trademark "Pierrot Gourmand".
In 1924, Georges Evrard came up with a new confectionery product, made in a small feather-shaped wooden mould and mounted on a stick made of Madagascar rattan so that gourmets could enjoy it without getting their fingers dirty... The first lollipop was born!
The 50s were Pierrot Gourmand's golden age. The emblematic "Pégé" lollipop, named after the initials P.G. engraved on it (source: pierrot-gourmand.com).
CONFISERIE BROCHET: From 1929 to 1931, the brothers Lucien and Gustave Brochet bought two buildings and a business in the rue de Vesoul in Besançon to make gingerbread.
In 1936, they registered the "Mielpur" gingerbread brand with the Commercial Court.
In 1939, the two brothers set up Brochet Frères, a limited company, and after the war, the factory, which had been totally destroyed by bombing, was rebuilt at 31-35 rue de Vesoul.
In 1955, confectionery production was added to gingerbread production.
In 1959, the Unimel sales company brought together SA Brochet, SA Spécialités Alimentaires Bourguignonnes (Philbée), SA Vandamme and Société d'Alimentation de la Garenne (Van Lynden).
Brochet Frères merged with Spécialités Alimentaires Bourguignonnes, Vandamme and Francorusse to become part of Générale Alimentaire in 1963.
After several takeovers, the biscuit branch (Lu brand) is currently owned by the American multinational Mondelez International (source: maisonconfiserie.fr).
