Description
AMOS BEER - Flat enamelled plate with rim circa 1930-35. Fine condition, very good colours, superb brightness, chips to bottom margin and edges. 90 x 55 cm. Enamelling: "émaillerie Alsacienne de Strasbourg". Represents Gambrinus, the king of beer. Originally founded in rue Hollandre-Piquemal in Metz in 1868 by Gustave Amos, the Amos brewery moved to Le Sablon in 1874. It was the last independent brewery in Lorraine before being taken over by the German group Karlsbräu and closed in 1992. Amos beer, still served in Metz and throughout Moselle, is brewed in Saverne by the "Licorne" brewery, also owned by Karlsbräu (Source: passionbrasserie.com and Wikipedia).
