Description
PERSIL - c.1927
Original lithographed advertising card with offset printing. 48 x 32.3 cm
Good condition. Very nice colours. The back is missing, the presence of an old mount is attested to on the reverse by the fasteners.
Launched in 1907 in Germany by Henkel, Persil is a washing powder whose name derives from PERborate and SILicate.
In France, the brand came into conflict with "Le Persil" (1906), our carton, by Jules Ronchetti from Marseilles. An agreement in 1927 gave the brand to Lever Brothers (later Unilever) in France and the UK, and to Henkel in the rest of the world.
At the time, washing clothes was still difficult, so Persil came up with a modern formula that used oxygen to whiten clothes.
