Description
CACHOU LAJAUNIE -c.1907 "TA BOUCHE! Documentary column in the "Journal" (No. 14 April 1907), 4 pages, cover illustration by F.Tamagno and L.Cappiello on back page. Text by Emile GAUTIER. Good condition - centre pages detached, a few marginal tears, annotations in coloured pencil on some pages. This text is a well-argued and illustrated advertisement which seeks to convince that CACHOU LAJAUNIE are indispensable for hygiene, health and social life. Created in 1880 by the pharmacist Leon Lajaunie, Cachou Lajaunie is a black pastille with liquorice, presented in its emblematic round yellow tin. Taken over by the Sirven brothers in 1904, the brand was widely distributed in tobacconists' shops and very early on developed innovative advertising, notably with Leonetto Cappiello's posters. Having become a symbol of Toulouse, the product spanned the XXᵉ century before ceasing production in 2024. Haute-Garonne/Occitania
