ANIS RIVOIRE -c.1935
Rare original advertising aniseed jug, yellow with black silk-screened lettering on both sides, in ceramic. Approximately 16 cm high. Stamped "Terre d'acier - Revol - Saint-Uze".
- Good condition.
Well-preserved colours, clear markings. A discreet internal accident at the neck and one under the foot, not visible in presentation. Fine and discreet surface cracks on the lower part, usual for the period.

Anisette Rivoire, a product of the Rivoire Frères distillery founded in Marseilles in the 1850s, was one of the great absinthe houses of the late 19th century. Based at 154 rue de Breteuil, the company developed a large-scale production of spirits (absinthe, vermouth, rum), registering a trademark in 1887 and gaining international renown under the impetus of Jules Rivoire.
After absinthe was banned in 1915, the company turned to aniseed-flavoured aperitifs, including Anis Rivoire, continuing the Marseilles tradition.
