Description
Shepherd - c.1990 "Noon...7 o'clock...Shepherd's time". Original advertising aniseed jug in yellow ceramic with black silk-screened lettering on both sides. A fine example. Berger, a brand resulting from the distillery founded in 1830 in Couvet (Switzerland) by Charles-Frédéric Berger, developed in the 19th century with a renowned and award-winning absinthe. In 1878, his sons set up in Marseille, where the company experienced major growth, registering its trademark in 1892 and expanding internationally. After absinthe was banned in France in 1915, the brand switched to aniseed-flavoured aperitifs in the 1920s, giving birth to the famous "Berger". Now part of the MBWS (Marie-Brizard & Wine Spirits) Bordeaux group. Bouches-du-Rhône/PACA Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur
