Premier Fils absinthe was created in Romans-sur-isère in 1882 by Louis Philippe Premier. Un Premier" was ordered in the same way as "Un Pernod".
From 1894 onwards an "oxygenated" form was launched to improve the quality of the alcohols used in distillation and to try and correct the reputation of a dangerous drink that absinthe's opponents attributed to it. The engineer Charles Henry, son-in-law of Louis-Philippe Premier, was behind this innovation.
