Description
BÉNÉDICTINE - c.1900 Original advertising paper cup in lithographed sheet metal. 17.2 cm long "Imp.F.Champenois. - Paris". - Good condition - discreet oxidation, which in no way affects the presentation. Has all its gold. Summary representation of the Benedictine palace on the front and view of the Benedictine distillery of Fécamp abbey on the reverse. According to tradition, Benedictine originated in 1510 at Fécamp Abbey, where the monk Dom Bernardo Vincelli created an elixir of plants and spices. Rediscovered in 1863 by Alexandre Le Grand, the recipe gave rise to the famous Bénédictine liqueur, presented in an emblematic bottle designed by its creator and marked with the initials "D.O.M." ("Deo Optimo Maximo"). ("Deo Optimo Maximo").
