Founded in 1902 in Beaumont (Texas, USA) under the name The Texas Company, Texaco quickly adopted its current name, derived from an abbreviation in a commercial telegram. In 1905, the company expanded into Europe, opening a site in Antwerp (Belgium) under the name Continental Petroleum Company. Backed by a constantly evolving range of innovative products, the Texaco brand quickly established itself on the European market. Anecdote: the Texaco red star is a direct reference to the state of Texas, nicknamed "The Lone Star State", and takes its name from the star on the state flag.
