Description
OPEL - "Die Siegerin" c.1900
Rare original enamelled embossed advertising plaque. Nice size 124 x 80 cm. "H.Peters Emaillir.Werk.Elberlend".
Good condition - good colours with sustained brilliance.
The enamel is rich and generous, particularly on the figure, with a good visual presence.
The ensemble is very homogeneous.
A few old and discreet restorations (upper left top and bottom corners, part of the front wheel, foot area and between the calves, bottom of the dress and part of the pedalboard). Slight edge chips and signs of use, but nothing to worry about.
Good overall condition. A rare item.
After Brynolf Wennerberg (1866-1950) not mentioned.
Founded in 1862 in Rüsselsheim by Adam Opel, Opel began with sewing machines and then bicycles, before turning to the automobile in 1899. After rapidly industrialising its small-scale beginnings, the brand grew rapidly and diversified, becoming Germany's leading car manufacturer in 1914. In the 1920s, it established itself as a pioneer of mass production, dominating the national market.
