Description
DUNLOP - "24h of Le Mans" c. 1970 Rare original offset printed advertising sheet. 81 x 51 cm. Signed "Jean Marie Very good condition. The colours, which are particularly vivid and deep, retain a beautiful luminosity and very good brilliance. There is only slight oxidation around the edges, which is discreet and has no effect on reading. The overall presentation is remarkable, supported by a particularly dynamic and attractive perspective. In 1888, John Boyd Dunlop invented the pneumatic tyre in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and while watching his grandson ride his bicycle, he came up with the idea of gluing strips of rubber to the wooden wheels and blowing air through them. This innovation made transport more comfortable and also meant that less energy was needed to move forward. The first pneumatic tyre was born and JB Dunlop registered his first patent on 23 July 1888. Created in 1923, the 24 Hours of Le Mans became the world benchmark for endurance racing. The 1970s, marked by the duels between Porsche (917) and Ferrari, were one of the most spectacular periods in their history. Sarthe/Pays de la Loire/tyre/tire
