ENGLEBERT TIRE - c.1930
Rare original advertising blotting-pad in sheet metal with curved glassoïd cover. 16 x 9 cm.
Very good condition - very good colours, very discreet alterations, very pronounced curvature which emphasises the brand.
Englebert was founded by Oscar Englebert in Liège in 1877.
In 1898, Oscar Englebert, who until then had been a trader in rubber products, set up a tyre factory in Belgium and a second much later in 1929 in Aachen, Germany.
In 1931, Société du Pneu Englebert was founded.
Following the purchase of a tyre factory in Clairoix, France, in 1936 and partnership agreements with US Rubber Overseas in 1956, the company changed its name to Uniroyal Englebert in 1966 and in 1979 became part of the Continental AG tyre manufacturing group, which had been a shareholder since 1892.
