Founded in London in 1878 by Albert Walter Gamage, Gamages quickly became a British commercial institution.
Based in Holborn, it stood out for the diversity of its product range, from toys to hardware and automotive accessories, as well as for its extensive mail order network.
Active during the automobile boom, the brand also sold lubricants and technical products under its own name.
Gamages disappeared in the early 1970s and is still associated with the golden age of London department stores.
