Description
GOODRICH - c.1925 "safety on Goodrich tyres
Original double-sided enamelled advertising plaque. 80 x 60 cm. "Émaillerie Alsacienne de Strasbourg - Émaillo gravure".
Signed "Geo HAM" (Georges Hamel) .
Good condition - well preserved colours on both sides.
The colours are well preserved on both sides, particularly on the face. One side retains a beautiful sheen, the other showing fine superficial marks. Chips can be seen mainly around the edges.
The whole piece is homogeneous and has a very good visual appearance.
In 1870, Dr Benjamin Franklin Goodrich founded a rubber factory in Akron, Ohio, in the United States.
At first, the factory manufactured bicycle tyres, then car tyres and aeronautics.
GÉO HAM: French painter, poster artist and illustrator, as well as rally, Grand Prix and endurance racing driver. His drawings so accurately conveyed the impression of speed he felt that publishing houses and specialised newspapers had only one desire: to get hold of him. He drew a great many advertising posters, notably for the major car and motorbike brands, as well as for tyres.
