SERVICIO DERBI - c.1950
Rare original double-sided gallows advertising sign in stencilled sheet metal. Approx. 136 x 86 cm.
Good condition.
There are a few discrete traces of oxidation and slight deformations at the edges, consistent with age. Near a fixing hole, there is a small opening in the material, which has no noticeable effect on the overall presentation. The whole piece is homogeneous and in good condition.
Derbi was founded in Spain in the late 1940s by Siméon Rabasa, following on from a company established in 1922 that specialised in bicycles and then motorbike frames.
Based in Mollet, the brand is renowned for its many successes in small-capacity racing, notably with Angel Nieto.
Integrated into the Piaggio group in 2001, Derbi tried to diversify in 2006 with the Mulhacén 659, but without any real success.
Production in Spain ceased in 2013 with the closure of its last factory, in favour of the group's Italian sites.
