Description
MICHELIN - c.1920
Very rare original lithographed cardboard advertising display. Approximately 84 x 65 cm (not visible). On the back the mention " Made in france 1-2.455-6-215 ".
An exceptional and rare piece, in good condition, with well-preserved colours and good overall condition.
There are a few minor perforations, some of which have been filled in, as well as discreet old retouching, mainly around the edges.
There are also slight traces of oxidation of the paper in the light areas (brownish shades), without affecting the homogeneity of the visual. The overall condition is quite acceptable for its age, with coherent interventions that retain an excellent visual impact.
The Michelin Man, cigar on his lips, scarf in the shape of an inner tube, rolls his wheel around the world. A composition with a strong visual impact, illustrating Michelin's power and international expansion through this monumental piece of advertising.
In 1886, André Michelin and his brother Édouard Michelin took over the Barbier-Daubrée family business in Clermont-Ferrand on 28 May 1889, when the company name was changed to "Michelin et Cie".
