AUTOMOTO - c.1920
Rare original double-sided enamelled advertising plaque with square return. 44.5 x 40 cm. "Renaud Morez-Jura enamel.
- Good condition.
Colours well preserved, with a very nice brightness.
Scattered bubbles from firing on both sides (characteristic of use), as well as discrete brown traces in the reds.
Beautifully presented.
Automoto, a brand founded in 1898 in Saint-Étienne and spun off from Ateliers du Forez (1897), quickly specialised in cycles after 1908 and became a major competition brand. It made a name for itself with Ottavio Botecchia, winner of the Tour de France in 1924 and 1925, before becoming part of Peugeot and disappearing at the end of the 1950s.
