Description
LA + CIGARETTE PAPER 1931 -
Original lithographed advertising card. 28 x 19 cm. "B.Sirven.imp.Edit.Toulouse - Paris".
Good condition - with well preserved colours. There is a discreet distortion on the left-hand side and a small perforation on the upper edge, but the overall presentation is good, with no noticeable effect. In the centre, the calendar was normally stripped at the time.
From the Lacroix family, paper makers since the 16th century in Angoulême, Riz La+ made a name for itself in the 18th century with its rolling papers, used in particular by Napoleon's armies.
Riz La+ (for "Riz Lacroix") has become a benchmark in cigarette paper. Its name, linked to the introduction of a rice-based paper replacing textile fibres, evokes both its finesse and superior quality.
An innovator, it introduced the pocket-rolling machine (1928) and gummed paper (1942), before being taken over by the Imperial Tobacco group in 1997.
