Description
CIGARETTE PAPER LA + c.1930 -
Original lithographed advertising card. 28 x 19 cm. "Blithe.V.Bellefaye - Angoulême".
Good overall condition - presenting well preserved colours. We note a lack in the left margin. In its centre, its calendar was normally stripped at the time.
From the Lacroix family, paper makers since the 16th century in Angoulême, Riz La+ made a name for itself in the 18th century with its rolling papers, used in particular by Napoleon's armies.
Riz La+ (for "Riz Lacroix") has become a benchmark in cigarette paper. Its name, linked to the introduction of a rice-based paper replacing textile fibres, evokes both its finesse and superior quality.
An innovator, it introduced the pocket-rolling machine (1928) and gummed paper (1942), before being taken over by the Imperial Tobacco group in 1997.
