Founded in 1883 by Lewis Edson Waterman in New York, Waterman revolutionised writing by inventing the first reliable fountain pen with a feed system that prevented ink leaks.
Winner of an award at the 1900 Paris World's Fair, the brand quickly developed numerous technical and aesthetic innovations, from clip pens to modern ink cartridges.
Established in France between 1921 and 1926, Jules Isidore Fagard (JIF) obtained the Waterman licence for France and launched the manufacture of JiF-Waterman pens, with ink production in Issy-les-Moulineaux.
