Created in 1889 in Germany by the Austrian Gustav Raupenstrauch, LYSOL is a phenolic disinfectant designed to combat cholera, more active than Joseph Lister's phenol.
Industrially produced from 1890, it moved from medical use to domestic and industrial applications. Trademarked in 1940 by Reckitt (UK), Lysol remains a world reference in disinfection.
