Important icon of the Mother of God of the Sign,
surmounted by the Lord Sabaoth and flanked on the left by the Holy King David, Saint Moses, Saint Isaiah, Saint Gedeon, and on the right by the Holy King Solomon, Saint Daniel, Saint Eremin, Saint Elijah and below in the centre Saint Avvakoum.
Tempera and gold on wood, in a superb 84 zolotniks (875 thousandths) vermeil oklad with embossed, chased, guilloche and finely engraved decoration, the nimbus with enamelled polychrome cloisonné decoration of foliage, flowers and friezes of pearls; the maphorion of the Mother of God set on the forehead with a green stone, her body entirely filigree, as is the chiton of the Infant Jesus. The back is covered in burgundy velvet.
