History
During this period, the Union des Artistes regularly organised seminars at the Maisons de la Création. One of these was based in the seaside resort of Palanga, where Boris Zaborov was captivated by the silent, almost suspended beauty of the Baltic landscapes and began a series of landscapes that are now on show in this exhibition.
These works already hinted at the qualities that, several decades later, would form the basis of his Parisian period: a rigorous construction of composition, a skilfully mastered restraint of colour, and that poetry of silence that would become one of the most profound axes of his work.
