(585 thousandths) set in the centre with a ruby, and a gold chain (375 thousandths). Minor damage to the egg.
Probably early 20th century Russian work for the egg, and English work for the chain.
H. 1.8 cm (egg); L. 50.5 cm (chain). Total gross weight: 3.7 g.
Provenance
- Given by Grand Duke Michael Alexandrovich of Russia (1878-1918) to Serge Benett and Edith Benett, née Rata (1882-?), respectively riding instructor and governess to the Grand Duke during his exile in England between 1912 and 1914.
- The estate then passed to their daughter, Mary Benett (1916-1983).
