Description
Soviet propaganda plate, the marli decorated with the Soviet motto "Spirit does not tolerate slavery". One chip, one crack and slight paint chips in the green fillet. Petrograd State Porcelain Factory, 1918. From a design by Sergei Chekhonin. Imperial-period porcelain, the mark covered in black. Sickle, hammer and cog marks painted in blue. D. 24.5 cm. Provenance - Zoé ZWYBAK (Częstochowa, 1894 - ?) and Léo KAPLAN (Krementchouk, 1894 - ?) - Their daughter, Emmeline KAPLAN (Paris, 1924-1980) - Then by descent.
