Art Nouveau-style DESK SET Comprising two inkwells, a letter holder and a water jar At the base of the central inkwell, a plaque bearing the inscription: « 6/XI/1904 – 9/V/1914 To our dear Vasily Pavlovich Efremov, from his comrades in Major General Gurko’s 14th Infantry Regiment” Russia, early 20th century Bronze, jasper 12 x 36.5 x 16 cm; 8.5 x 13 x 13 cm; 12 x 13 x 13 cm; 9 x 8 x 17 cm. A.B.E. (chips to the edges, patina). Vasily Pavlovich Efremov (1868–1915) – Major General, participant in the Russo-Japanese War and the First World War, killed in action. Vasily Pavlovich Efremov (1868–1915) – Major General, participant in the Russo-Japanese War, recipient of the Orders of St. Stanislaus, 2nd Class, with swords (1905), St. Anne, 2nd Class (1912), St. Vladimir, 4th Class, with swords and a ribbon (19 November 1914), St. Vladimir, 3rd class with swords (15 February 1915), St. Stanislaus, 1st class with swords (14 October 1915), killed in action.
