Grand Duke Mikhail Nikolaevich Romanov (1832–1909) — the fourth and youngest son of Emperor Nicholas I and his wife Alexandra Feodorovna; military commander and statesman; Field Marshal (1878[1]), General-Quartermaster (1852). Chairman of the State Council (1881–1905). In exile, he assembled a substantial library, a large section of which was devoted to military and administrative sciences.
