On the front endpaper, a paper bookplate of the previous owner, Stahlin. Alexander Vasilyevich Romanovich-Slavatinsky (1832–1910) was a Russian lawyer. In 1870, he published the work: ‘The Nobility in Russia from the Beginning of the 18th Century to the Abolition of Serfdom’, for which he was awarded a doctorate. This work brought the author fame. In September 1870, he was elected full professor. In 1871–1872, he published the course ‘A Guide to the Study of Russian Constitutional Law Using the Historical-Dogmatic Method’; and in 1886 he revised it under the title ‘The System of Russian Constitutional Law in its Historical-Dogmatic Development, Compared with the Constitutional Law of Western Europe’.
