In French, 64 pp., [34] ill., full leather publisher’s binding, lithographed title page and 34 lithographs, polychrome embossing on the front cover of the binding, 39 x 30 cm, in condition (scuffs and soiling to the binding, a crack between the front cover and the spine, the illustration ‘The Kremlin and Red Square’ is missing).
The historical essay ‘The Shopping Arcades on Red Square in Moscow’ was written by Alexander Solomonovich Razmadze (1845–1896) immediately upon the completion of the Upper Shopping Arcades. It recounts the history of trade on Red Square, the design and construction of the new building, as well as the participants in this project, the appearance and technical features of the completed structure. The publication features historical views of Red Square, as well as photographs taken on site during the construction work. The publication was released in two versions – in Russian and French. This version is in French.
