Pavel Petrovich Lassman — a journalist and contributor to Siberian and Latvian newspapers — published his diaries under the pseudonym Larchenko. The diary entries cover and explain the course of military events and life in the besieged fortress as information became available, with the aim of providing an accurate picture of what was happening.
