Cavalry officer’s sword of the Order of Saint Anne “For Valour”, the heart-shaped hilt in gilded bronze, engraved in Cyrillic with ‘For Valour’ and inlaid with a 4th-class insignia of the Order of St Anne, enamelled in red, the tang in filigree black leather, marked beneath the guard with the manufacturer’s mark “SCHAFF & CIE” in Saint Petersburg; the steel blade decorated with stars and gilded rocaille motifs. With its leather scabbard and gilded bronze fittings. Signs of wear and impact. Russia, second half of the 19th century. L. 101.5 cm (with scabbard); L. 99 cm (sword).
