with a gilded bronze pommel decorated with the monogram of Tsar Alexander III and topped with a flower and friezes of laurel leaves, the shaft is of fluted black wood; the hilt features a single branch in gilded bronze holding a brown leather sword knot with a tassel embroidered with silver thread; the steel blade is marked ‘E & F HÖRSTER SOLINGEN’ on one side.
